A technology-enabled RPC provider enrolled patients into an RPC hypertension program from February 2022 to June 2024. Using vitals automatically transmitted from a cellular-enabled blood pressure (BP) cuff and scheduled visits, clinicians leveraged technology-enabled clinical protocols to drive engagement and improve hypertension control.
The analysis found:
- Large, nationally representative cohort: Analysis of 23,638 Medicare beneficiaries, majority in rural or underserved areas, enrolled in Cadence’s hypertension program
- Meaningful blood pressure reduction: Proportion of patients meeting the guideline target of <130/80 mmHg rose by 70%. Similar outcomes among rural seniors, highlighting RPM’s ability to reduce health disparities
- Patient empowerment using technology: Patients transmitted over 11.8 million vitals. 75% of patients were still measuring vitals at 6 months, demonstrating that RPM technology empowers patients to focus on their health goals
