Association of Community Cancer Centers: Digital Tools in Cancer Care, Survey Results

The Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) partnered with two patient advocacy groups, DiMe and LUNGevity, to conduct the patient survey to identify challenges and benefits associated with wearable devices and other digital tools. At the same time, ACCC conducted a survey of cancer care team members to gauge provider and/or programmatic barriers to the integration of digital tools among their patient population.

The survey found the top reported benefits of using technology to share symptoms with the health care team were the ability to keep the team up to date on symptoms in between appointments and the ability to alert the care team if medical intervention is necessary.

Of the 128 cancer care team members surveyed, 40% are implementing or piloting remote patient monitoring (RPM) at their practices, and an additional 28% are considering or planning to implement RPM in their practice.
